The story
[ 34°43′39″ N, 81°16′55″ W ]

Seeley Creek Canine is Eric Galayda and Katelyn Hill, training dogs for the public since 2004 on their farm outside Chester, South Carolina. Rescue dogs, protection dogs, hunting dogs, family dogs. Same standard.

Eric Galayda

Eric Galayda learned his first rule of training as a kid in the AKC and UKC show rings, walking Shetland Sheepdogs as a Junior Handler. Show a dog what it wants and it will work for you.

Labradors came next, trained for retrieves on duck hunts. Then rescue. He went into inner-city shelters looking for the dogs nobody would adopt because of their behavior, temperament tested each one, and retrained them into dogs a family could keep. He taught rescue volunteers to handle those dogs safely and visited schools to teach kids how to act around a dog.

In 2004 he opened his training to the public, starting with families whose adopted dogs were falling apart at home.

Protection work followed. For five years he worked alongside some of the best trainers in the field. He built dogs for military, police and personal protection work, and ran his own dogs and handlers in the protection sports.

That road ended at French Ring, one of the hardest working-dog sports in the world. With his dog Dapper, Eric reached Ring 3, the top level of the sport. He still trains, still competes, and still travels abroad to learn from people better than him at something.

Every dog at Seeley Creek starts with the question he learned in that show ring. What does this dog want? The training gets built from the answer.

“We put him through the 4 week board and train program and couldn't be happier with the results.”★★★★★

Katelyn Hill

Katelyn Hill lives on the farm, with the dogs she trains and the Dobermans she raises.

She grew up in Georgia and started with collies before she found the Doberman. That turned into the program she runs today: rigorous genetic health testing, care built on current research, and hours on the phone coaching new owners through every stage of a puppy growing up.

Her view is simple. A dog that walks calmly beside you, lies relaxed on a beach towel, or settles at your feet at home did not get there by luck. Somebody bred it, raised it and trained it on purpose.

Wanting that level from her own dogs pulled her into the protection sports, where control, focus and drive get tested harder than anywhere in the pet world. She found world-class trainers and learned everything they would teach her. In 2025 she and Yagger scored 175.25 out of 200 in Ring 1 at the North American Ring Association (NARA) championship.

At Seeley Creek she leads the board and train program and oversees the health and wellness of every dog on the property. She runs the schedule and the front office. She still whelps Doberman litters.

She books your dog in, trains it and keeps it healthy. Then she goes home. Home is the farm.

How we work

Three rules.

We show you the video.

Weekly photo and video updates during board and train and 585 public training videos. If we say a dog can do it, you can watch the dog do it.

We name our tools.

Marker training, rewards, structure, and e-collars for off-leash work when the dog is ready. No mystery method, no correction for something the dog has not been taught.

Small on purpose.

One-on-one training and a capped boarding list. Fewer dogs means every dog gets our attention, and that is the whole point of a farm instead of a franchise.
